  • Love the car, don’t have sufficient unfavorable words for Entune

    By MCard605 (Pcmac user)

I do love the car — it is a 2018 Toyota Camry SE, which replaced a 1982 Corolla. The 2018 Camry is fun to drive, surprisingly generates many compliments, and gets great mileage (35 mpg at 75 mph, 40 at 70 mph. I bought the car to replace a 2002 Camry with 250k miles on it, and was driving 120 miles a day to an assignment, so at the urging of my spouse, I upgraded the car. I did not upgrade the radio, no CD, and no Apple Play or a similar “functioning” system. I had driven a Kia with Apple Play and thought surely Toyota would have something similarly functioning. Other than sitting in the middle of the dash, there are no real comparisons. It took hours to get this app to recognize my new phone, and then it would not upload the contacts. It said it did, but nothing transferred. By not uploading the contacts, when it said it did, this app would not let me manually enter in telephone numbers. this app looks to connect by Bluetooth, even when connected to the USB port, generating lower volume for calls and content. And of course, replacing this app with another system voids the warranty. Nice self-sealing logic. I love the car - just not this app, and it is bad enough that I am looking to trade to a different vehicle, even moving away from my beloved Toyota - two different dealer representatives look at me with disbelief. It is the product and what it does (or doesn’t do), not the product label that generates value.
  • Very Very Bad Most frustrating app/service ever!

    By RoadsideProphet (Pcmac user)

I know people start with sensational subject lines, but this is really true. I just bought a 2018 Toyota Camry, V6, fully loaded, and this app And this app and its connection to the car is so bad that I almost returned the car. If I could pull the radio out manually and throw it through the window of Toyota Motor Corporation‘s headquarters I would. It is absolutely awful. And I decided to write this review when I went to remotely start my car, I know it is a different app, but also Toyota, and now the remote start app is having trouble, so it won’t start, and we just had a snowstorm and I have ice and snow on my car. I know they say these are “first world problems “but I paid a lot of money for the car, and Toyota is one of the best car companies out there, and I just cannot believe that they messed up so badly with Toyota this app and their other apps, and almost all electronics in the car. When I start my car if the radio is on very loud previously, the radio is blasting and I cannot lower it until everything loads in which is a minute or two. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but if someone is in the car that does not like loud or my music, I can’t lower the radio. Who designed all of this?
  • Almost Worthless

    By LETSG0WVU (Pcmac user)

Well as the other reviews are stating this app is pretty frustrating and borderline useless. It constantly drops connections and most of the apps are boring at best. Pandora definitely going to drop when you make or receive a call; assuming most other apps will do the same. Seems the most trusted fix is disconnecting and reconnecting the this app app but that’s annoying and unsafe while driving. I didn’t even attempt the built in “GPS” which was a wise move considering the other reviews on it specifically. Buy a nice bracket for your phone cause you’ll be using that screen just as much as in the past. Speaking of the past, this app belongs in maybe 2013, pretty sad for the latest greatest Camry which last I checked is Toyota’s flagship and best seller in the USA. Also what happened to the steering wheel control of the infotainment like on previous Camrys? You can’t do squat on the screen once the car is in motion. Yeah it’s a safety feature but let’s be honest, voice control isn’t going to cut it and is a whole other waste of time in itself; who actually uses that button on the steering wheel? We all know it’s possible: do everyone a favor and build in Apple CarPlay to end the misery.
  • Absolute Junk

    By PTW2412 (Pcmac user)

I never had any trouble with the old this app on my 2016 Highlander, but 3.0 on my 2019 RAV4 Limited has never worked. Bluetooth works for using my phone, although getting messages is more difficult than on the previous car, but I can’t get access to the apps like IHeart Radio. I get constant update errors on the car screen. I sometimes get the download error right after the message that it downloaded and installed correctly. I have an IPhone 10R. Whenever I start the car the app asks permission to connect to my phone I’ve found no way to set it to “always allow”, and when I do remember to stop and wait to “allow” when I get in the car, the app takes over the phone screen, superseding whatever I’m doing. Even after I’m connected on my phone, the car screen tells me to make sure I’m connected and logged in. Several guys at the dealership spent a hour in the car with me on the phone to this app support with no results whatsoever. I’ve uninstalled and downloaded the app on my phone repeatedly. That helps briefly and my apps appear for a day or two. I’d use Appleplay, but it’s not wireless...you have to plug in your phone.
