  • shockingly inaccessible

    By MelodicK96 (Pcmac user)

I am genuinely shocked and upset by this app. I specifically purchased my instant pot because I have had friends talk about not only how amazing it is, but how accessible it is through the application. I have seen one of my friends use the Bluetooth one with his phone, and he loves it! This app however, is a completely different story. I can’t even click on one single thing with voiceover, and when I specifically bought the Instant pot Wi-Fi version because of the accessibility features, it’s incredibly upsetting to see that they weren’t even a consideration when they have been in the past. I even went through the set up process before ordering the product itself so that I could make sure this would work fine. And it did, until after I ordered my instant pot and completed the set up process, at which point this became unusable. Please, please, please, please, please, fix your app!!! I would hate to have to return my purchase, but I can’t justify keeping it at this point. I would have NEVER bought the instant pot if I had known the app was going to be like this.
  • Needs some work

By Friend of all the pods (Pcmac user)

My first impression was that the app is easy to use... and then I tried using it. You can't scroll through search results because you're constantly opening recipes instead of scrolling. I've only had this app for 4 days, and while I keep trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, it's nearly impossible to use because you keep inadvertently opening recipes. I keep getting frustrated and go to Pinterest instead. I really, really wanted to love this app, and can honestly say I tried, but the frustration of its inoperability prevails. Great idea, poor implementation. I'll keep it around in hopes it becomes less 'tap' sensitive. I work in the software industry, specifically in the mobile app realm of the industry, and I understand that there are ups and downs, but how did this pass any quality assurance testing? I found it impossible to scroll without opening a recipe. I'll try back in a few months, but please please correct this. I hope to change this to five stars in the future. Current status = fail.
  • Looks Promising, sadly it needs a lot of work.

    By Tjpd (Pcmac user)

This app appears to be very usedfull, however after using it to make a recipe I thinks it needs a lot of work. The 3 main things that are in the way of making this a functioning app are: #1-the list of ingredients and amounts used are on one page, you must touch the screen to go to the cooking instructions and then it is back & forth, touching the screen each time, making a mess out of your screen. Very user unfriendly IMHO. #2- No ability to print the recipe out, why? This is a deal breaker for me. (I prefer not to have my iPad in the middle of my cooking area). #3- No ability to make notes on the recipe as to any changes made to the recipe or to note how well it worked out. Again, why? There are a few more things about this app that make difficult in my opinion but these 3 are the most problematic. At first glance I was impressed until I actually tried to use it. I won’t delete it yet, hopefully the team will get this app up to speed to make me want to try it out again.
  • If you are a Voiceover user, don’t even bother getting an IP

    By crister1 (Pcmac user)

This app has absolutely no Voiceover support for the Wi-Fi model. You cannot access, control or monitor the pressure cooker via the app. Instant pot has been contacted by many blind and visually impaired people who were excited by the possibilities of this device, but disheartened by the accessibility issues. Sadly, there has been no effort made to even make the most modest of improvements in app accessibility despite Instant Pot’s reassurances that accessibility was important to them and that fixes would be coming. This is especially frustrating as the original Bluetooth model is quite accessible with the Smart Cooker app. One can only hope that the smart cooker app will continue to be supported and usable with iOS. At this point, Instant Pot’s inaction in regards to accessibility speaks volumes. Don’t hold your breath I suppose. For the record, I would be more than happy to revise and upgrade my review if they ever get around to doing something about it, but at this point, I doubt it’ll happen.
