  • Not a smooth app, hopefully it will improve.

    By LindseyB1122 (Pcmac user)

I downloaded the app to listen to a specific podcast hoping for a seamless experience, but I’m going to describe the typical experience with this ap. I get my podcast loaded up, it’s playing, I put my car into drive and the podcast stops. Why? Not sure. Luckily it’s open on my phone and I’m still on my street so I hit play. It only takes about 45 second - 3 minutes to reload. Then a few minutes later I get a phone call from mom for 5 minutes. Had this been the apple podcast ap, it would continue playing when I end the phone call. Not the app! Instead...silence. So I unsafely open the app and press play. A few more minutes pass and my podcast started...yay!!...but wait, it had restarted from the very beginning. I close it because I’m a safe driver. I get home later in the day and attempt to play my podcast (that again is only available on the app), and I scroll to where I think I am. I then use the rewind 15 seconds button a few times to find the true spot. Every time i use that button it takes about another 30 seconds to load. I may throw my phone across the room. Additionally I like testing out podcasts. If I don’t like them, id like to be able to remove them from my “continue listening” section but I haven’t found a way to do that. I also haven’t found a way to queue episodes of other podcasts that I’d like to listen to in preparation of a longer drive. Y’all got some work to do...I hope your developers figure it out.
  • Great content and interface

    By DaltonAmes (Pcmac user)

I downloaded the app so I can listen to Rewatchables 1999, and I am intrigued by several of your other shows. I was immediately impressed by the interface- very intuitive and easy to use. Obviously the exclusive content is what will entice people like me to pay for a monthly subscription. I would like to request a "Rewatchables TV" that dives into the most rewatchable TV shows. If you can somehow convince Mallory and Jason to do Binge Mode Battlestar Galactica, then just go ahead and take my money and I will delete my other podcast apps from my phone. While I am making requests, how about some exclusive Ride Home content from Brian McCullough of Internet History Podcast fame? As for the folks posting critical comments- I assume they are also ranting about evil Netflix while watching Matlock reruns on NBC. Personally, I want to listen to the best content from my favorite podcast creators. If it is available for free with ads, then that is how I will consume it. If I can only get the content via a subscription, then I will subscribe. The same is true for my TV watching habits. We are living in the golden age of TV and podcast content - just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
  • Never using this app

    By simondeldesierto (Pcmac user)

Signed up only because the new season of Spooked was acquired by the app. They offered a free trial, which I decided would be worth it to hear the new season and if I liked what else they had, I’d go ahead and be a paid subscriber. After months of buildup promising the release of the next season, on the day of the advertised release, no episodes showed up. No statement from the producers of the podcast and nothing from the app. By the next morning, the description of the podcast had changed from saying new episodes would be available on the advertised release date to saying they were “coming soon” with no indication of when. Lo and behold, two weeks later the podcast’s Facebook page advertised that the app would be releasing them in the fall. Conveniently, this is right after the one-time free trial would end. In looking at their content, much of it is available for free on the Podcasts app, so the benefits of a paid membership is at best non-existent. I’ll just wait until the podcast I like is available for free elsewhere. This was easily the worst first impression the app could have made. I’d never heard of them before and I sure as hell will never be bothering with them again. Membership canceled. Congrats on figuring out exactly how to alienate potential customers and ensure they’ll never come back.
  • Fyre Island of Podcast Apps- Worst design imaginable

    By jfdseybcdruikvdssui (Pcmac user)

I am so frustrated with this app I’ve given up listening to the podcasts I love because it’s just not worth it to deal with this thing. What on earth was going on with this company that they’d invest so much money into some game changing app concept and put zero though or effort into user experience. Whoever engineered this app should be fired immediately, though I’m sure they were extremely overpaid to come up with some bs that sounded good in a board meeting with no practicality. So glitchy. Can’t easily view what you last listened to. Achingly slow. Never remembers where you left off in a podcast. Sometimes you click on one podcast and another episode plays instead. Doesn’t just automatically play the next episode in a series, seems completely random what plays next. Constantly quits for no reason. This is literally unbearable and I feel bad for the podcast hosts who bought the emperors clothes on this thing. This company is going bankrupt in no time. Keep. It. Simple. There is literally no need for some bloated app for podcasts. Should be minimal, sleek and FAST. Design should always come second and not get in the way of function. This is the Fyre Island of apps. All jargon and marketing, zero quality.
