Apple has brought back one of its first games, Texas Hold’em, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the App Store. The game has been redesigned with new characters, more challenging gameplay, and stunning graphics for the newest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The game is free to play for the first time and allows players to play like a pro against 24 realistic opponents or with friends over Wi-Fi. The game includes 10 distinctive locations, and winning advances the player to the next location.

It’s a good, fun app when you hold the phone horizontally and play quickly. Having said that, there is usually one bot who gets nothing but good hands, even if they start with garbage, like 7-2 offsuit. Sometimes this is “Connie,” but more often “Chris,” who has drawn a full house on me to beat an ace-high flush and quads to beat a full house. In fact, he has drawn quite a few quads, usually at those moments you really need your straight or flush to hold up. The bots are also obscenely aggressive preflop and often see trash hands to the end and often draw out on them. They go all-in all the time, which is super annoying. They don’t give a fig for pot odds, either. So while I really like the music, speed and atmosphere, the card-dealing RNG is questionable and the bots’ betting behavior is outrageous. I also really dislike the inevitable “really lucky bot” who gets nothing but boats, straights and sets.
Good game horrible algorithm

I really enjoy the game but the algorithm is horrible. Very little reality in the game almost to the point you can anticipate what is going to happen. Example: player will move all for 50k only leaving 3k behind...when this happens push all in and the bot will fold. Another example: The bots will also call an all in with no draw and no pairs only to runner runner 2 pair. Once again, it’s a good game but would be better if more realistic algorithm was applied. If you can’t win at this game you have no reason playing poker at all. You can anticipate the moves of the bots. Went from 0 to 110 million +. I’ll keep playing until I get to 1 billion. Maybe another level after Macau would be good!

The only problem I have with this game is that I am somewhat clueless as to some of the rules, and what those chips with the letters on them are for, and how to redeem them, and for what purpose do I redeem them? I also don’t understand what “blinds” are. Other than that, I am thoroughly enjoying this game! Since I’m a jazz aficionado, I enjoy the music, too. I still don’t think I’m ready for the big time on TV just yet...

I really like poker. apple thanks for the game but it has some problems: improve the graphics, when starting a game the characters are blurred, the characters when moving are seen with pixels around them. I would like the chips to be in 3D or in perspective to know how many chips I have. when I withdraw from a hand I would like my cards to be on the table but attenuated to compare my poker card, place buttons to bet everything - double the bet or equal the bet, the animation when the characters place the chips on the table in a bit rough.
