Shyft - Shift Swap, Schedule for Pc

When I got this app I thought it would be helpful but unless your employees are doing all the work of adding their own schedules to the app it is not helpful. Trading shifts does not work unless ALL employees have added the schedules to the app. Do not pay for upgrade either it’s a rip off. I’ve asked for a refund but they will not offer it. Stating I have to go through App Store for refund, but since I purchased app and upgrade over 90 days ago a refund is not possible Through App Store. If I can prevent 1 person from using this app my upgrade fee is worth it. Do not get this app. ***Since I wrote this review the company has contacted me several times to work with me and actually offered and sent me a refund. Although my staff does not like that they have to input their own schedules into the calendar now and I preferred the advantage of having it uploaded for me as the store owner, we will try to make it work for the time being. The other features worked much better when they were offering this service. It streamlined the scheduling aspect. I personally felt it was what set this app apart from the other apps. I can send a text with my excel spread sheet in it to them so posting it on the app now seems like a waste of time. With all that being said I have upped the star rating because of their customer service. They all were wonderful and very professional.

The company I work for switched to this app after our last one was discontinued, and I’ve hated it from the start. It’s more than just how childish the app looks (seriously, why does a business app look like it was designed for children?) — so many features are lacking. For the last few months I haven’t even been receiving notifications from the app at all, which has meant multiple missed opportunities to pick up shifts and help coworkers (the very reason for this app’s usage at my workplace) as well as both missed schedules and announcements from managers. Many team members don’t even use it anymore since the switch to this app, so getting shifts covered is much more difficult. It’s a trainwreck and I’m so glad we’re preparing to move over to Crew. (If you haven’t heard of it: Crew is a much more professional and useful app that does what it says it does… and it doesn’t have a poorly-drawn childish woodland creature for a mascot, which is always a plus) Honestly, it baffles me that this app was ever chosen at all; I blame that on the short notice we had when our old service shut down in August 2018.

So this is a pretty swell app. It does what you’d expect it to. It’s user friendly and convenient. The biggest gripe I have is that once you tap “Cover” you can’t really go back. I suppose you can msg a manager and ask them to reject the shift but then the poster has to post it again (I think). Sometimes people will accidentally tap “cover” on the wrong day or sometimes change their minds or something will come up so I think it would be more useful to be able to cancel a “cover”. Another suggestion is that it might be useful to have some sort of pop up message whenever you choose to cover a shift that says something like , “you already have a shift that day. Are you sure you want to cover this?” My schedule changes all the time so I’ll always have to go back in my calendar and check if I have a shift that day and mull over if I really should cover. I’m not sure if what I just suggested is even possible though. Anyways just my two cents.

My store recently starting using this app and we find it’s very helpful. Before we had to call and check with a manager and now all they have to do is approve the shift on the app. Super easy! However, one improvement that I think could be made is when the shift swapping gets rejected. The shift stays on the homepage with a red X, which I have to scroll through to get to shifts I could pick up. Instead of leaving the rejected shift there, could there be some message under the shift that someone tried to take it but failed and then re-open that same shift to someone else? It’s inconvenient when that person then has to re-post their shift cause they couldn’t get it covered the first time. Either that or just automatically delete the shift and notify the poster so they can re-post it. Other than that, the app is great!
